Required Materials
Coming to class prepared everyday is essential for success in the classroom. You will need to bring a pencil/pen, a notebook and math folder, your Chromebook (charged), and a scientific calculator. You will NOT be able to use your phone for a calculator. I would recommend using a TI-30X IIS calculator. You can find them at Meijer/Target for about $12.00 - $13.00. Geometry students will also need to bring a protractor and compass.
Teacher Pace:
Since our school is a proficiency-based system, you are required to pass every test with a 60% or better. I will stay on "teacher pace" which will cover the class in one year. If you do not pass a test, you will need to stay on teacher pace and continue doing everything the class does each day. Additionally, you will need to go back and learn the material from the failed test on your time so you can retake the test and pass it.
- You may only work ahead of pace if you have asked for permission. Additionally, if you are working ahead of pace, you MUST receive A's or high B's on your tests or you will have to follow the pace of the teacher.
- Should a student fall behind, that student will be identified for interventions. This will include advisory/academic support.
- If you do not meet all of the standards by the end of the semester, you will receive a failing grade. Definitely keep up with the work!
Hall Passes
I have one bathroom pass that is on my desk. You are able to go to the restroom when needed. Please realize you may miss information when you are out of class. Bathroom passes will ONLY be given out after I teach the lesson for the day. If I see you abusing the freedom of the pass, I will deal with you on an individual basis.
Homework/Assignments:
You will be given work to do during class and assignments to do at home. Our online book is called MathXL. The program will correct your homework for you. You can work through the problems more than once if you need help and the program will show you an example and how to solve it if you are having trouble working through it.
Late work:
It is imperative that you stay on track with your homework. I will only accept homework for the unit we are working in. After the class has taken a test on a unit, you will no longer receive any credit for late work for that measurement topic.
Test Policy
In order to pass this class, you must pass EVERY test with a grade of 60% or greater AND have a passing grade in the class after your homework, quizzes, and exams are in PowerSchool.
I will only allow you to take a test if you pass your quizzes or your MathXL grades are at an 80%. If you do not take the test the day it is scheduled, you will automatically be moved to the retake policy (unless you have an excused absence).

Retaking a Test:
You will be allowed to retake a test if you want to. Please see the Test Retake Policy below.
Test retakes will have to be done after school or during the next available review day. Advisory is typically not enough time to take a math test.

Test Retake Policy:
- Your original mathxl grades for the unit MUST be at least a 90%. If it’s not, bring it up to 90%.
- When you have brought your mathxl grade up to 90%, meet with Mrs. Ferrier to go over your test to see where you went wrong on the concepts.
- Do the retake test assignment. Mrs. Ferrier will email this to you after you go over the test with her. Turn it in to have it checked over prior to setting up a time to retake your test.
- Set up a time to take your test.
**** You only have TEN school days from the day the test is returned to retake the test. If a retake must be done after the ten days, the maximum grade you can receive on the test is a 60%.
Tardy Policy:
If you are not in the classroom when the bell rings, you will be marked tardy. The district tardy policy states you will have two warnings. Each additional tardy after that results in a referral to the administration.
Electronics:
My classroom is a NO-CELL ZONE. You may not use your cell phone/IPOD in my class. This includes listening to music. Calculators and Chromebooks are the only electronics you can use in my classroom. If I see problems with cell phones, I will collect them at the beginning of the hour and hand them back out at the end of the hour. Chromebooks should not be used for watching videos or playing games. If you are caught doing something non-math related on your Chromebook when you still have math work to do, I will take your Chromebook for the rest of the hour and give you a Knight Crew.
Food/Drinks:
You will be allowed to eat a school breakfast in my classroom during first hour or have a non-messy snack during my other hours. If I see abuse of this, I will not allow snacks at all in my classroom. You will be allowed to have drinks in my classroom, provided it is in a resealable container. Absolutely no cans allowed! Please do not throw your plastic water/Powerade bottles in my trash can. I have recycle boxes for those on either side of my classroom.
