Welcome to my page! You will find important information here to help you be successful in your math class. You will want to read over the syllabus and make sure you understand it. I will post the syllabus and the notes for the day on this website. You will want to check here daily for assignments. If you are absent, the calendar on this site will show you what you missed.
Be respectful and be responsible are my two big expectations in my classroom.
To help you be successful in math, 1. Do your homework daily! 2. Ask questions if you do not understand. 3. Look over your notes and rework problems. 4. Come to Advisory/Academic Support for help, if needed. 5. Use websites like www.interactmath.com or www.khanacademy.org to help you with concepts you need more help with.
Classroom Norms: 1. Keep up on all assignments. There is a purpose to every assignment I give you. The more you practice, the better you will understand. 2. It's okay to ask questions. Ask your teacher. Ask your group for help. Ask the person across the room. Asking questions will help your understanding. 3. Know and use the word "yet". "I don't know this yet." "I don't understand yet." By including this word, you are showing that you will be able to do this. Growth mindset is everything! 4. Show your work. In high school math, we need to be able to show the work we are doing to solve a problem. The work will provide explanation to our thinking. That explanation is very important. Without the work, I'm unable to see how you are getting the answer and if your thinking is correct. 5. Use class time wisely. Be present both physically and mentally. Concentrate and take notes.
